At last! We (of course) wanted to play at the E-Live/Klemdag, and we especially wanted to play in the magnificent de Vereeniging hall in Nijmegen. As it turned out this was the last E-Live to be held at that venue.

The setup was a bit tricky as the Biosphere crew had been given a wrong start time and so had gone to eat leaving the area we needed covered in a huge video screen. At the time nobody knew where they had gone and we weren't sure if they'd ever come back. Fortunately they showed up and we just had time to assemble the rigs and do a very quick soundcheck. Not a problem, we soundcheck pretty quickly! At least we didn't get much time to get nervous backstage.

Performing the nordle (picture by Stephen Schelle) We opened with a 20-minute piece played sitting on the edge of the stage just using our Nord Modulars. As well as a bit of fun, it was nice to show off the power of these amazing synthesizers. We were able to do a fully formed piece, complete with atmospheric intro, a big sequence and plenty of pads & leads.

Once the intro finished we made our way to our rigs - there's a limit to what you can do with three synths, and the wall of sound was certainly bigger using the full heaps. After the intro we felt pretty relaxed and the set developed into a quite laid back section. After a while John introduced a funky laid-back sequence. The sight of him attempting to explain the tempo and vibe through the medium of dance will stay with the audience for years to come...

Other hightlights included a lyrical string piece, and Pete's closing sequence using that multi-trigger trick beloved of a certain German soundtrack composer. For the encore we decided to reuse the sequence patch that Adrian used in the intro. All the notes and sounds were different, as it is a very controllable patch, but still in some way it was a different take on the same thing.

Overall Norded!
